Profile

Juliane Kokott began her academic career as a visiting professor at the University of California, Berkeley (USA). Back in Germany, she taught as a professor of German and foreign public law, international law and European law at the University of Augsburg, the University of Heidelberg and the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. She then accepted a professorship in public international law, international economic law and European law at the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland), became Director of the Institute for European and International Economic Law at the University of St. Gallen and Deputy Director of the Master of Business Law programme at the same university.

Juliane Kokott was appointed Advocate General at the Court of Justice on 7 October 2003. In this position, she has written more than 670 Opinions to date, of which more than 160 relate to tax law.

She is the author and co-author of a number of publications in European law, international law and international and European tax law.
